Handcrafted Airbnb - Riverside Airbnb - Weddings -

The Raneys offer two, uniquely Alaskan Airbnbs to accommodate your Alaskan adventure: a handcrafted home at the base of Hatcher Pass, and an off-grid RV situated on a river inside the pass, on the Raney homestead.

Airbnb - Handcrafted Home by Marty Raney

Legendary Alaskan, Marty Raney, host of Discovery Channel’s Homestead Rescue and Raney Ranch, has earned a global reputation by creatively solving problems and thinking outside of the box. This home was featured on both shows during its early stages of construction. When on film breaks, he continued working on this one-of-a-kind, handcrafted home; he’s excited to finally share this turn-key, uniquely Alaskan experience with you.

I built this building with my bare hands, and much of it alone; it took years to complete. I have incorporated logs from this very property into both the structural integrity of the building and into the home furnishings e.g. log beds, live edge tables, chainsaw carvings, staircases, railings, and an overhead log bridge. I’ve used river rock from the nearby Little Susitna River for their aesthetic value and Alaskana appeal. Every stone on the exterior of the building was laid by me, as were the stone pillars at the property’s entrance. All was hand-mixed in a wheelbarrow, old school. The many antiques showcased in and around the home are from our family’s 50-year personal collection. I can honestly say this building was intentionally designed and built to entertain its guests. It has never had a renter or a resident. So please enjoy your Alaskan experience in our custom-built, handcrafted, one-of-a-kind home.

Airbnb - The River

Experience the real Alaska on a private stretch of the Little Susitna River located on our off-grid homestead in scenic, historic Hatcher Pass, Alaska. This is gold country. A few miles upstream, visit the historic Independence Mine. At the river’s edge, enjoy private gold panning station. From the comfort of your camp chair, a private river’s edge deck offers views of the river and the mountains.

This Alaskan river is teeming with life. During salmon season, watch King salmon fighting the rapids on their way to their spawning grounds. Observe the American Dipper—the world’s only aquatic songbird, raising their young on this section of river, where they too, have chosen this beautiful site to build their home. A prominent Cottonwood tree towers within view just outside of your living room window where we’ve seen ravens, bald eagles, and Great-Horned owls using it as a hunting platform. There are daily sightings of Mergansers, Harlequins, and King Fishers, as well as occasional Common Loon sightings. Binoculars are provided, allowing you to spot bigger game: black bear, brown bear, moose, and believe it or not, the majestic Alaskan Dall Sheep.

Although this is an off-grid experience, our 26-foot RV generator/battery systems provide adequate lighting, heat, and potable water.
