Handcrafted Home by Marty Raney - Airbnb Rental.

Legendary Alaskan, Marty Raney, host of Discovery Channel’s Homestead Rescue and Raney Ranch, has earned a global reputation by creatively solving problems and thinking outside of the box. This home was featured on both shows during its early stages of construction. When on film breaks, he continued working on this one-of-a-kind, handcrafted home; he’s excited to finally share this turn-key, uniquely Alaskan experience with you.

A one-of-a-kind Airbnb.

From the moment you walk through the front door, you realize you have stepped back in time to 1800s Alaska. The Raneys’ lifetime collection of antiques are embedded in the stone floors, attached to the walls, and hanging from the ceiling. Natural Alaskan spruce logs are used as structural supports and beams, giving the home a cozy log home feel.

This home features two queen beds and one king bed, all handcrafted out of uniquely-Alaska spruce burl logs by Marty Raney. Chainsaw-carved Alaskan animals are showcased throughout the home. The solid log staircase takes you to the second floor where you will walk across a log bridge and find a quaint seating area with two antique rocking chairs. From this vantage point, spectacular mountain views and opportunities to see our stunning Northern Lights dancing above the Talkeetna mountain range await. Addition to second level is a futon for seventh guest if needed.

Three massive, handcrafted chandeliers are featured throughout the home: two are fashioned out wagon wheels, horseshoes, and lanterns, while a third is constructed from moose and caribou antlers.

Our comfortable living room features a flat screen television, couches and chairs, and a reading nook with Alaskan-themed books, musical instruments, and board games.

Off of the living room, an 8-foot sliding glass door will lead you to an over 400 square foot deck complete with a barbecue grill and a table and chairs. From the deck, you can access a fenced-in fire pit area with seating.

Added outdoor features include two rooftop decks with a 360-degree scenic view of both the Talkeetna and Chugach mountain ranges.

The kitchen comes stocked with all new stainless steel, full-size appliances: a refrigerator, a gas range, and a dishwasher.

Two full-size bathrooms & half bathroom are included in your stay, with the master suite featuring a full-size stackable washer and dryer.

For your convenience, the kitchen is fully furnished with all needed cooking utensils.

A Note from Marty Raney:

“I built this building with my bare hands, and much of it alone; it took years to complete.
I have incorporated logs from this very property into both the structural integrity of the building and into the home furnishings e.g. log beds, live edge tables, chainsaw carvings, staircases, railings, and an overhead log bridge. I’ve used river rock from the nearby Little Susitna River for their aesthetic value and Alaskana appeal. Every stone on the exterior of the building was laid by me, as were the stone pillars at the property’s entrance. All was hand-mixed in a wheelbarrow, old school. The many antiques showcased in and around the home are from our family’s 50-year personal collection.

I can honestly say this building was intentionally designed and built to entertain its guests. It has never had a renter or a resident. So please enjoy your Alaskan experience in our custom-built, handcrafted, one-of-a-kind home.”
